Mudbrick Vineyard wins again at The New Zealand International Wine Show 2019

Mudbrick Vineyard has won not one, but two Gold medals at the New Zealand International Wine Show for their 2018 Mudbrick Reserve Chardonnay and the 2018 Mudbrick Reserve Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon/Petit Verdot/Malbec.

The New Zealand International Wine Show is the largest wine competition in New Zealand, with entries welcomed from all over the world. The judging this year was chaired by Bob Campbell MW with assistant Chief Judges Larry McKenna, John Hancock and Tony Bish. The quality of the wines entered was outstanding and the comment from the judges was ‘the best overall quality we have ever seen in a wine competition’.

“Based on last month’s success at the CWSA with another two Gold medals at the NZIWS, 2018 has been proven to be an exceptional vintage for Waiheke Island.’’ says Patrick Newton, Mudbrick’s Winemaker.

Following Gold medal wins for the Reserve Chardonnay 2018 at the Royal Easter Show and the China Wine and Spirits Awards, to be awarded Gold for both the Reserve Chardonnay 2018 and the Reserve Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon/Petit Verdot/Malbec 2018 at The New Zealand International Wine Show is a huge achievement for the whole vineyard team; continuing the theme of the 2019 wine awards season with the Reserve Syrah 2018 also taking gold at CWSA. Flying the flag for Waiheke Island wines globally, Mudbrick Vineyard was once again, the only vineyard to win Gold from the Waiheke Island region, making the win all the more momentous.

Mudbrick Vineyard Reserve Chardonnay 2018 and Mudbrick Vineyard Reserve Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon/Petit Verdot/Malbec 2018 are both available for purchase from our online shop (global shipping available).
