One of our favourite local producers, Ōra King Salmon, are once again running ‘The Ōra King Awards’ for 2015.
The Ōra’s were established in 2013 to recognise outstanding contributions from chefs working with Ōra King. Ōra King is New Zealand’s premium salmon brand produced exclusively for fine dining restaurants in New Zealand and offshore.
Marketing GM Jemma McCowan says “We want to celebrate the achievements of those in the foodservice sector who have embraced the Ōra King philosophy and demonstrated its wonderful traits to fine diners from the United States to Germany and here in our heartland, New Zealand.”
Mudbrick loves a good competition and once again entered a dish featured on our current Winter menu. Our dish of miso-crusted Ōra King Salmon featuring, mango mustard, dashi, sesame dauphine and wong bok, has made it to the final 12 dishes for judging. If you like Salmon, do try this dish when you visit – and if you are only mildly enthusiastic about salmon – definately try this dish, because its beautiful – the salmon has a melt in the mouth softness, quite unlike normal pan-seared salmon.
Head Chef Matthias Schmitt says he, ‘couldn’t be more pleased with this great result, especially as Mudbrick is the only restaurant from Waiheke Island, represented in the finalists’.
Final judging will be held over the next 4-6 weeks with an announcement coming soon after.
Until then, we’ll be cooking our salmon-obsessed, hearts out! Stay tuned.
