Do you accept walk-ins? +

Yes! Mudbrick always accepts walk-in bookings, please note on busy days such as weekends you may need to have a drink at our rooftop bar, whilst waiting for a table to become available.

*We recommend booking a table to ensure smooth service where possible.

What's the difference between the two restaurants? +

The Mudbrick Restaurant is our flagship restaurant established in 1995, the restaurant serves upmarket, intricately plated New Zealand produce drawing inspiration from our unique island landscapes and culture. We recommend the Mudbrick Restaurant as a fantastic lunch or dinner destination, especially if you are celebrating a special occasion. The Mudbrick offers a full sensory experience we recommend around 3 hours.

The Archive Bistro is our modern bistro and the more casual side of Mudbrick. Serving foraged native ingredients, boutique produce and unique dishes drawing inspiration from all around New Zealand. The Archive offers a relaxed dining experience perfect for any occasion, lunch or dinner.

NB: Both restaurants offer indoor and outdoor seating, and have beautiful views across the gardens and Hauraki Gulf.

Can I land a helicopter at Mudbrick? +

Yes, Mudbrick accepts helicopter landings. We only take up to 2 landings per day to ensure optimal ambience for our diners. Helicopters must be booked in advance, and approved by Mudbrick. A landing fee of $100 applies which goes towards our native tree restoration project.

Does Mudbrick make cakes? +

The Mudbrick Restaurant and Bistro are fantastic restaurants to celebrate a birthday. Mudbrick does not offer a cake making service, however, you are welcome to bring your own cake to the restaurant, a $60 cakeage fee applies.

On request, we can write happy birthday in chocolate on a dessert to make the birthday guest feel extra special.

Does Mudbrick allow dogs? +

Yes! Both restaurants are dog friendly.

Can I stay the night at Mudbrick? +

Yes! Mudbrick offers on-site and off-site accommodation check it out here.

Can I walk in for a wine tasting? +

We offer wine tastings at our cellar door between 10 am and 6pm every day except Good Friday and Easter Sunday, Christmas Day and after 1pm Anzac Day. Tastings are comprehensive and take 30 to 40 minutes; we are not able to offer tastings in either of our restaurants.

You may walk - in for a wine tasting - reservations are not required unless for 10 or more people.

You may be asked to provide identification showing proof of age, the legal drinking age is 18 and over in New Zealand. Any proof of age document must be an original (we do not accept smartphone photographs of any legal documents) of your New Zealand Drivers License, your Passport or Hanz 18 + Card.


Can I reserve an outside table? +

We accept requests for outside tables, however, we do not take bookings for outside tables as we cannot guarantee the weather. Please request to be seated outside in your restaurant booking, and if it's nice weather we will do our best to accommodate you.

Our outdoor tables are always available for walk-ins weather-depending.

Can I reserve a beanbag at the rooftop bar? +

The Rooftop Bar is open during the summer months from 12pm till sunset on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and is walk-in only. We do not accept reservations for beanbags or anywhere at the rooftop bar.

Is Mudbrick wheelchair accessible? +

Yes! Mudbrick & the Bistro are easily accessible by wheelchair and has wheelchair-friendly bathrooms.

Does Mudbrick allow children? +

Yes, both the Restaurant and the Bistro are child-friendly. We have highchairs available on request, a children's menu, and children's activity packs.

Do you have a childrens menu? +

Yes, both restaurants have children's menus available. Prices range between $19 and $25. Ice cream for dessert can be added for $9.

Does Mudbrick cater to vegans? +

Yes! Mudbrick is vegan-friendly. Both the Bistro and the Restaurant offer delicious and different vegan offerings.

Does Mudbrick cater to all dietary requirements? +

Yes, Mudbrick and the Bistro can cater to all dietary requirements if you let us know in advance.

Does Mudbrick have a shuttle? +

No, Mudbrick does not offer a shuttle service, its best to catch a taxi from the ferry.

Is your meat Halal? +

Yes.

How do I get to Mudbrick? +

You can catch a Fullers Ferry departing regularly from Downtown Auckland to Matiatia Waiheke Island click here for timetables and further information

There are a number of ways to get to Waiheke Island from the mainland. You can catch a Fullers Ferry departing regularly from Downtown Auckland to Matiatia Waiheke Island click here for timetables and further information, alternatively, you can take the Sealink Vehicular & Passenger Ferry from Half Moon Bay in East Auckland to Kennedy Point Waiheke Island, click here for more information.

Once you arrive on Waiheke Island by ferry you will need to organise transport to get from the wharf to the restaurant as we do not offer a shuttle service, it takes about 40 minutes to walk uphill from Matiatia Bay via the road and is 6.5km from Kennedy Point.

Some people choose to travel by seaplane or, to fly in by helicopter. We work closely with a number of helicopter operators please contact them in the first instance for a reservation (please note all landings need to be pre-approved by Mudbrick).

Does Mudbrick have a dress code? +

Neither restaurant has an official 'dress code' lots of guests choose to dress up for our restaurants, but you are just as welcome to come in jandals (flip-flops) and a T-shirt.

Can I request a window table? +

We try our best to cater to all seating requests, however, we have limited availability and lots of requests for window/outdoor tables. We work on a first request basis so it's best to book in advance. We cannot promise tables, but always try our best for special occasions.

Does Mudbrick charge a public holiday surcharge? +

Yes, Mudbrick has a 15% public holiday surcharge and is always open on public holidays, even Christmas Day.

Is Mudbrick open on Christmas Day? +

Yes, both the Mudbrick and the Archive Bistro are open for lunch and dinner Christmas Day. Bookings are essential, and it is recommended to book early. Full payment of the set menu is required to secure the booking.

Is Mudbrick open on public holidays? +

Yes, Mudbrick has a large car park and a drop-off area for taxis and busses.

No, Mudbrick does not open for breakfast - however our sister restaurant, Fenice in Oneroa village has an excellent breakfast menu!
